DIY Travel Hacks That Will Change How You Pack Forever

Do you loathe and despise packing before a long trip? Many of us do! Some people take their time and painstakingly pack every last item, while others just throw everything in a bag and go (only to find things have been spilled once they reach their destination!).

Luckily, with these DIY packing tips and suitcase packing hacks, your next trip will be a lot easier to prepare for.

Packing Toiletries

Packing toiletries is one of the most difficult parts of packing for a trip. Here are a few suitcase packing hacks so you don’t end up with spilled shampoo all over your best clothes during your flight.

You can store skincare products in straws, empty chapstick tubes, or old sunglass cases. This saves space and your makeup or skincare products in one fell swoop.

For liquid skincare products, use leftover contact cases that screw on. This will prevent spillage during your flight and keep them intact.

To protect your powdered makeup, put a cotton round into the compact to prevent it from breaking.

Saving Space

Many of the best suitcase packing hacks are related to saving space. There’s nothing worse than having to pay for an extra checked bag at the airport. Here are a few DIY packing tips to prevent having to stuff your suitcase and sit on it before you head to the airport!

One space-saving DIY packing tip: Roll, don’t fold! Rolling your clothes is easier and faster. It also means you can stack the rolls like little cylindrical tubes in your suitcase.

Another suitcase packing hack: Put your blazers and other formal, starched shirts inside out before you put them in the suitcase. This will prevent wrinkles, which is especially important if you’re headed out on a business trip.

To prevent having to lug around a bunch of big bags for small, easily lost items, such as hairpins, there are a lot of easy options. Store hairpins and other small items in old Tic Tac boxes, for example.

There you go!  You can find them easily, they’re not bent, and it saves a lot of space so you don’t have to bring a cumbersome hair and makeup bag.
